Artists from the Concerts for a Cause community to raise funds for Hoosiers impacted by historic flooding

Concerts for a Cause and Spokenote today announced an upcoming virtual benefit concert to support individuals and families affected by recent flooding across Central Indiana. The two organizations will match the first $10,000 in donations.

Featuring local and national artists, the free virtual concert will premiere on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at spokenote.com/cfac. Viewers can register in advance at the link to receive a reminder when the concert is available.

“Concerts for a Cause has always been about bringing great music and great people together to do some good,” said Bruce Kidd, Co-Founder and President of Concerts for a Cause. “When we saw what so many of our neighbors were going through, we knew we had an opportunity to bring our artist community together again. This time, instead of asking people to come to us, we’re bringing the music to them and giving everyone an opportunity to help.”

The concert will bring together artists who have performed at past Concerts for a Cause events. Individual performances will be available to watch and share online. Featured artists include:

  • Jon McLaughlin
  • Michael McDermott
  • Liz Longley
  • Chris Trapper
  • Pat McGee
  • Marc Imboden
  • Tay Bronson

“There are moments when you simply look around your community and ask, ‘What can we do to help?’ This is one of those moments,” said John Wechsler, Founder and CEO of Spokenote. “Concerts for a Cause already has this incredible community of artists who have given their time and talent to help others. Spokenote gives us a way to bring those performances together, put them in the hands of thousands of people, and turn every song into an opportunity to help a neighbor.”

A donation link will appear throughout each performance on the concert page using Spokenote technology. Donations will be collected by Concerts for a Cause. One hundred percent of donations will be distributed to families in Central Indiana affected by the flood, helping them rebuild their homes and lives.

Music With a Purpose

Founded in 2016, Concerts for a Cause is an Indianapolis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built around a simple idea: combine a love of live music with a desire to give back to the community. Since its founding, the organization has donated more than $1 million to 39 local nonprofit organizations, and more than 7,500 people have attended its concerts.

Over the years, Concerts for a Cause has welcomed an extensive roster of local and national artists, building a community of musicians who have used their talents to support Hoosiers in need.

The Central Indiana Flood Relief Virtual Concert takes that mission beyond the walls of a traditional concert venue.

Turning Digital Performances Into Action

Spokenote will power the digital concert experience, bringing participating artists and performances together in a showcase designed to be easily viewed, shared and connected directly to the fundraising effort.

Instead of simply streaming a traditional concert, the program will turn individual performances into shareable digital experiences of their own. Viewers will be able to enjoy a song, hear from the artists, learn more about the flood-relief effort and take immediate action by donating.

The partnership also demonstrates how technology can extend the reach and lifespan of a traditional charitable event. Individual performances can be shared through email, social media, websites, QR codes and other channels, allowing the benefit to continue reaching new audiences and generating donations well beyond a single event.
